Hyper Light Technologies Secures Series A Funding Round to Support Ongoing Research and Prototype Development of New, Different Photonic Device to Address Infections

Cary, NC, April 6, 2017 – Hyper Light Technologies, an early-stage technology company focused on UV-based surface disinfection today announced it has completed a Series A round of financing. The lead investment came from a large, privately-held family office in the Southeast with a diverse portfolio of investments including several life science, medical device, and medical software start-ups. The capital will help the company aggressively expand its research efforts and initial prototype development. The Series A financing builds on an already successful decade of research and development by Founder, Kurt Garrett.

Hyper Light’s planned design is a departure from low pressure commercially available solutions that require quarantined space to operate. The development of the company’s Cool UVTM technology will allow users to deliver targeted, high-powered disinfection within inhabited spaces.

“Hyper Light’s technology development is well-timed with the rapidly increasing demand for HAI reduction solutions to provide a safer patient environment. We believe our solution will offer a positive impact on the market as we continue to see an upward trend of new and aggressive pathogens within the healthcare setting”, said C.G. Gillooly, CEO.

“As an industry we’re just scratching the surface on the benefits of UV disinfection. We are excited to have the Investor on board to help us execute our vision more rapidly” said Kurt Garrett, Founder and President.

Hyper Light is passionate about the fight against HAIs, as all members of the company have had the HAI battle personally touch their lives. Hyper Light projects a late 2020 launch of their first surface disinfection device.
