Hyper Light Technologies Hires Industry Expert Maria Gergen to Lead Advanced Research Efforts
Cary, NC, January 2, 2019 – Hyper Light Technologies announced they have hired industry expert Maria Gergen-Teague as their Senior Research Technologist to help lead all advanced research efforts on utilizing focused UV energy to inactivate pathogens causing a troubling rise in HAIs.
Maria has been involved in healthcare since the early days of her career. She is a specialist in Bacteriology and Epidemiology, focusing on sterilization, surface disinfection and infection control. Prior to joining Hyper Light, Maria has worked for UNC Health Care Systems, Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA and Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Maria was the Senior Medical Technologist along with world-renowned epidemiologists William A. Rutala and David J. Weber that co-authored over 60 studies in peer-reviewed publications.
“Maria is one of a select few research technologists in the country that have the depth of experience in the protocols and analytics required to perform accurate testing on pathogens and the effects of different methods of inactivation. Her unparalleled experience in the field working along-side two of the most well-known authorities in infection prevention is a real coup for our company as we move from R&D towards a commercially viable device. We couldn’t be happier to have her join our team.” said Kurt Garrett, Hyper Light, Founder and President.
Hyper Light projects a late 2020 launch of their first surface disinfection device.
